Zane's wedding
The first of the A-crew got married yesterday. It was a beautiful day and quite a sweet occasion, with some giggles during the ceremony that totally reflected Mel's character and some fantastic choice in songs and music. The reception overlooking the harbour from Taronga Zoo was a beautiful scene, the speeches were good and everything ran smoothly. Zane and Mel looked joyous rather than at all nervous, and we were all happy for them. Best wishes to the happy couple!
Other reflections
I doubt anyone else from the A-crew will get married anytime soon (of the rest of the crew aside from Zane - 4 bankers, 1 doctor, 1 IT professional, 1 med student, 1 teacher; only 2 with a girlfriend). There is always the dark horse factor, but I don't think we're yet to descend into the marriage a week syndrome that seems to hit around the age of 26 - 30.
Josh being better mates with them, and having had a chat to Josh about the guys from school at the reception, it seems like the eastern suburbs bluebloods are a bit directionless at the moment - they'll all probably get it together at some point, but they all sound like a bunch of bums at the moment. Some of them have yet to finish their studies, some are major stoners, and others sound like they are just filling in time with part-time jobs. Not quite the "leaders of the future" that the headmaster of our day had in mind I'm sure.
